Mammootty to dub for Shikari
Malayalam super star Mammotty has completed the shooting of his bilingual film Shikari directed by the award winning director Abhay Simha. Simha had won the National Award for his first Kannada directorial venture Gubbachchigalu which also won the Best Children`s Film Award from the Karnataka State Government. The film has been shot in Bengaluru, Mysore and at a 135 year old house near a village in the Theerthahalli Taluk of Shimoga district. Mumbai based actor Poonam Bajwa who has already acted with Darshan in Thagigaagi is the heroine. "Mammotty sir is dubbing for both the versions of the film", says Abhay Simha who is now involved in the post-production work of the film. "He has told me that he will take some extra time for dubbing, but will definitely dub for even the Kannada version", says Abhay Simha. Innocent and Tini Tom are part of the Malayalam version. Audithya and Mohan play important roles in the Kannada version which also has Neenasam Achyutha, Aswath and others.

After being with plenty of variety roles in his career, Mammootty will turn a man of snobbery in the new movie by the makers of ‘Four Friends’. This yet to be  titled movie will have the megastar as ‘Puluvady Mathai,’ an expatriate working in  a mean job in the gulf, forced to flee to Pollachy due to this specialty of his character. Saji Surendran will direct this movie, while Tomichan Mulakupadam will produce the flick. Suraj Venjaramoodu will appear in the role of Mathai’s closest aid in the movie, while the crew is finalising the others in the cast.

According to scriptwriter Krishna Poojappura, this movie will also be a fulltime comedy flick as his previous endeavours.

Mammootty again with shyam prasad

After the path breaking film ‘Ore Kadal’ which was showered with accolades in international circuits, Megastar Mammootty will once again team up with director Shyamaprasad for a new venture.

This movie will also be produced by Vindhyan, who was with Shyamaprasad for his 'Ore Kadal'. This time the director will himself pen the story and scripts for the new project.

Meanwhile, Shyamaprasad is giving final touches to his latest movie ‘Electra’ featuring Manisha Koirala, Prakash Raj and Nayantara, which is planned to be on theatres by the third of December.

 BHAVANA WITH MAMMOOSE

Busy young actor Bhavana, will for the first time come up as Mammootty’s heroine in the new movie ‘Doubles’. But don’t expect this to be a full time role. Bhavana will be in a cameo in ‘Doubles’ who appear in the hero’s dreams as the face of his heroine.

The big reason is that Tapsee, who is Mammukka’s heroine in the movie, will be appearing wearing a Purdah for majority of the portions and so as Mammukkas’ character doesn’t see the actual face of Tapsee, he dreams her as someone who looks like Bhavana.

Though the role is just a cameo, Bhavana is more than thrilled to be with Mammootty, particularly in a song sequence set to music by ‘Subramaniapuram’ fame James Vasanthan. The actress had earlier played Mammukka’s sister in the movie ‘Chronic Bachelor’ which came up almost seven years ago.

Megastar Mammootty will for the first time wield the role of a movie director in a new flick. The megastar will be calling the shots on screen, in the new movie by K M Madhusoodhanan titled as 'Karuna-the return of Buddha'. To be produced by Playhouse and NFDC, the movie which is also scripted by the director will be shot at locations in Madhya Pradesh and Mathura. K M Madhusoodhanan is the director of the much acclaimed state award winner 'Bioscope', which featured Sreenivasan.

Director Blessy seems to be taking his acting career a little more seriously that we had thought. Blessy is doing an important character in a Tamil film directed by Sasikumar. Now we hear the director is also part of Mammootty’s film ‘Best Actor.

Blessy has done an important cameo in the film directed by Martin Prakkat. The film already has directors Lal Jose and Renjith doing interesting cameos.

The scenes involving Blessy and Mammootty were recently canned in Trivandrum. ‘Best Actor’ film is readying for release on November 25th.

Dimple was taking to the media as a part of the promotion for her first movie in Malayalam ‘Bombay Mittai’. The movie features her with high profile politician Amar Singh in a brief role.

Dimple was all praise for the contents used in Malayalam films “Though two of my five scenes in the movie are already cut out, I enjoyed my time here in Kerala, acting for the movie. In the future I would like to do a role that has something to do with mysticism or may be a supernatural one,” she added.

Shaji Kailas and Renji Panikkar were one time the biggest hit director-writer pair in Malayalam commercial cinema.

They have made some of the finest action packed commercial hits like Sthalathe Pradhana Payyan, Thalasthanam, Ekalayavan, Commissioner, The King etc.

Their trademark was their heroes Mammootty or Suresh Gopi always spoke fiery punch line dialogues, and characterization was manly and based on coalition politics of Kerala. The duo split, after Ranji Panikkar turned director and moved on.

Now after 15 years, they are joining hands again with The King & Commissioner . They are actually joining two of their earlier hitsThe King and Commissioner together.

Mammootty who played the firebrand IAS officer Thevalliparambil Joseph Alex in The King will clash with the IPS officer Prithviraj. Suresh Gopi who played the original Commissioner due to commercial reasons has been dropped.

Says Ranji Panikkar: “After 15 long years I’ am doing a film with Shaji Kailas, so it has to be something really big. At the moment, I’m working on the script of the film. Mammootty’s right hand man and leading producer Anto Joseph has brought them together. The shoot of the film will start in January 2011, and it will be a Vishu release through Mammootty’s Play House.

Though their last coming together in 'Drona' which was released last November, was more than a disaster at the Box Office, Mammootty has once again allotted his dates to Shaji Kailash, one of the hit directors a decade ago. The new project again for Aroma international, will be the Xmas release of 2010 from the star. Scheduled to start by the mid of October, the major parts of the movie will be shot in and around the capital city. Mammootty who is presently in the sets of his first Kannada movie 'Shikaari' will have two more releases before this Shaji Kailash film in Martin Prakkat's 'Best Actor' and M A Nishad's 'Best of Luck'. While the former movie will feature the superstar in the title role, the later will have him in a cameo of a real life superstar. Shaji Kailash who had been amidst continuous flops for his last half a dozen movies like Time, Alibhai, Sound of boot and ‘Drona’ will be looking for a welcome hit to recapture his lost glory in Mollywood.

But this time Ranjith will not be directing the flick, but will only write the script. This new project will be directed by G S Vijayan who had been away from the industry for quite some time. Ranjith will also be associated as a producer as this project will be produced under his banner, Capitol Theatre. Ranjith is also riding high on the critical acclaim that his recent movies like Palery Manickyam, Kerala Cafe and Pranchiyettan has received. He has also decided not to return to pucca masala fare that was the back born of his earlier hits.
